I completed my Ph.D. in psychology at New York University (2006) and post-doctoral training in the Social Cognitive Neuroscience lab at Columbia University (2006-08). I then served as a senior researcher at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Karolinska Institutet (2008-10), where I am an Associate Professor in Psychology since 2011.
Broadly, my research aims at better understanding emotional learning and regulation in social situations. More specifically, I am interested in the neural mechanisms underlying the acquisition, maintenance and change of fears and aversions of other individuals, and how these processes depend on social cognition and social interaction. A related interest is in the transfer of emotionally significant information between individuals, for example, how we learn the value of objects, situations, and our own actions through observing others’ emotional behavior. To address these interests, I am taking a multi-method approach, including functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), peripheral psychophysiology, and behavior.
